Crowley graves at St. Finbars & St. Josephs cemetaries
I had asked via this website for information on graves in Cork city. I especially wanted to know where everyone is buried? The answer is as follows.
- St. Finbars:
- Jimmy and his wife Bridget
- Dan and his wife Margaret nee Buckley.
- St. Josephs:
- Daniel Stephen and Mary nee Mehigan (who died from a tenanus infection!)
- Peadar and his wife Noreen nee DeLee and their son Luke
- Jimmys son James Joseph
- Peggys son Paul Hyland
- Eileen
- May
Both cemetaries can be seen on the Friars walk map. James (1844) and Mary (1840) are not buried at St. Josephs. There is a chance that they are buried at St. Finbars but there is also a graveyard in Carrigaline which needs to be checked out.
A list of Cork City RC Cemeteries:
St. Joseph's, from 1830
St. Finbarr's, from 1868
Rathcooney from 1911
Carr's Hill Pauper's Graveyard from 1846. Before this date, paupers were buried in St John's graveyard, Quaker Road or in St Joseph's.
Prior to the opening of St Joseph's, Catholics were buried in Kilcrea near Ovens, Douglas, Currykippane near Clogheen, Carrigrohane and Kilcully near Dublin
Hill.
