There is not a lot on the internet about Peter O’Neill Crowley. The following is a basic list of who he was and what he did. Our records claim that Mary Crowley (1840) came from Ballymacoda and that she was related to Peter O’Neill Crowley.

  • Leader of hundred men Fenian brigade from Ballymacoda, near Youghal, East Cork.
  • In March 1867 attacked Knocknadoon Coastguard Station, seized weapons, no bloodshed. This was one of a small number of successes in the Fenian rising.
  • Peter O’Neill Crowley killed a few weeks later near Kilcooney by British soldiers. Very large funeral Statue of Peter O’Neill Crowley in Cork City to commemorate him.
